“죄인을 부르러 왔다” (마가복음 2장 13-17)
본문 말씀: 마가복음 2장 13-17
예수께서 다시 바닷가에 나가시매 큰 무리가 나왔거늘 예수께서 그들을 가르치시고 지나가시다가 알패오의 아들 레위가 세관에 앉아 있는 것을 보시고 그에게 이르시되 나를 따르라 하시니 일어나 따르니라. 그의 집에 앉아 잡수실 때에 많은 세리와 죄인들이 예수와 그의 제자들과 함께 앉았으니 이는 그러한 사람들이 많이 있어서 예수를 따름이러라. 바리새인의 서기관들이 예수께서 죄인들과 세리들과 함께 잡수시는 것을 보고 그의 제자들에게 이르되 어찌하여 세리와 죄인들과 함께 잡수시느냐. 예수께서 들으시고 그들에게 이르시되 건강한 자에게는 의사가 쓸데 없고 병든 자에게라야 쓸데 있느니라 나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니요 죄인을 부르러 왔노라 하시니라.
묵상 및 적용
이 본문에서 예수님은 그 당시 사회에서 가장 멸시받고 외면받던 세리와 죄인들과 함께 하셨습니다. 예수님의 이 행동은 당시 종교 지도자들과 많은 사람들에게 충격을 주었고, 예수님의 사역이 무엇을 의미하는지 명확하게 보여주고 있습니다.
예수님은 레위를 부르셨습니다. 레위는 세리로서 당시 사람들에게 매우 부정하게 여겨졌지만, 예수님은 그런 레위를 선택하시고 그와 함께 식사하셨습니다. 이는 예수님께서 죄인을 사랑하시고 그들을 구원하기 위해 오셨다는 강력한 메시지를 전달합니다.
예수님은 병든 자에게 의사가 필요하듯, 죄인에게 구원이 필요하다고 하셨습니다. 이것은 우리 모두에게 적용되는 말씀입니다. 우리는 모두 죄인이며, 예수님의 구원이 필요합니다. 예수님은 완벽한 사람을 찾으시는 것이 아니라, 자신의 연약함과 죄를 인정하고 예수님의 은혜를 구하는 사람을 찾으십니다.
오늘의 말씀을 통해 우리는 다음과 같은 교훈을 얻을 수 있습니다:
- 겸손함과 자기 인정: 우리는 우리의 죄와 연약함을 인정하고 예수님의 은혜를 구해야 합니다. 스스로 의롭다고 여기는 사람은 예수님의 구원을 필요로 하지 않는다고 느끼게 되지만, 자신의 죄를 깨닫고 회개하는 사람은 예수님의 구원을 경험할 수 있습니다.
- 포용과 사랑: 예수님은 사회에서 멀리 여겨지는 사람들도 사랑하셨습니다. 우리 역시 편견 없이 모든 사람을 사랑하고 포용하는 마음을 가져야 합니다.
- 구원의 필요성: 모든 사람에게는 예수님의 구원이 필요합니다. 우리는 예수님의 사랑을 전하고 그분의 구원의 메시지를 나누는 사명을 가지고 있습니다.
기도
사랑의 주님, 오늘도 주님의 말씀을 통해 저희에게 다가와 주심에 감사드립니다. 저희의 죄와 연약함을 인정하며, 주님의 은혜를 구합니다. 주님께서 저희를 부르셔서 새로운 생명으로 인도하셨듯이, 저희도 주님의 사랑을 전하며 살아가게 하여 주옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
생각
건강한 사람에게는 의사가 필요없고, 병든 사람에게는 필요하다. 내 존재에 대한 인식, 죄인 그리고 구원. 예수님을 통한 구원. 일상을 살아가는 나로서는 사실 구체적으로 와 닿지가 않습니다. 예수님과의 시간을 갖고 믿음에 대한 생각을 더 해보게 됩니다. 시간을 따로 내어 보내는 것이 긴 시간이 아님에도 어렵습니다. 그만큼 세상의 혼탁한 흐름이 예수님과의 온전한 시간을 방해하는 것도 같습니다.

“I came to call the sinner” (Mark 2:13-17)

Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
meditation and application
In this text, Jesus was joined by Seri and the sinners, who were most despised and neglected in society at the time. This action of Jesus shocked religious leaders and many people at the time, clearly showing what Jesus’ ministry meant.
Jesus called Levi. Levi was considered very unclean to people at the time as a serie, but Jesus chose Levi and ate with him. This sends a powerful message that Jesus loves sinners and came to save them.
Jesus said that just as a sick man needs a doctor, a sinner needs salvation. This applies to all of us. We are all sinners, and we need Jesus’ salvation. Jesus is not looking for the perfect person, but for someone who acknowledges his weakness and sin and seeks his grace.
From today’s words, we can learn the following lessons:
Humility and Self-Acknowledgement: We must acknowledge our sins and weaknesses and seek Jesus’ grace. Those who consider themselves righteous feel that they do not need Jesus’ salvation, but those who realize their sins and repent can experience Jesus’ salvation.
Inclusion and Love: Jesus loved people who were considered far away from society, too. We, too, should have a heart to love and embrace everyone without prejudice.
Necessity of Salvation: Everyone needs Jesus’ salvation. We have a mission to convey Jesus’ love and share his message of salvation.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord of Love, for coming to us today through the words of the Lord. We acknowledge our sins and weaknesses, and we ask for your grace. Let us live with your love, just as you have called us and led us to new life. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
idea
Healthy people don’t need doctors, sick people need them. Recognition of my existence, sinners, and salvation. Salvation through Jesus. As I live my daily life, I actually don’t feel specific. I take time with Jesus and think more about faith. Spending time separately is difficult even though it’s not a long time. It seems that the chaotic flow of the world interferes with the full time with Jesus.
Q1: How can we acknowledge and embrace the fragility and sins of ourselves and others?
Q2: What concrete actions can we do to practice Jesus’ love and inclusion in today’s society?
Q3: When we deliver Jesus’ message of salvation to others, how can we open their hearts?
